Is Today The Biggest Day In Evil Adam History?

It might actually be.

Two things happened today that I honestly was not sure would ever happen, and they both landed on the same day.

Evil Adam is officially monetized on YouTube. Super Chats, Super Thanks, and Memberships are all live right now, and next week I should be crossing the second and final tier, which unlocks actual ad revenue. If you want to support directly, there is a Super Thanks button under all the videos. YouTube hides it like they are embarrassed by it, but it is there.

And since you are reading this, you should probably already know that eviladam.com is back. That domain used to be home base and went away for a while. Today I got it back, which means you are reading this on the site it was always supposed to live on.

I started Evil Adam in 1997 in Jersey City. The first album was called Useless and Dumb, which was either self-deprecating genius or an accurate prediction depending on how you look at it. We played shows around the tristate area, had a following, and then life happened the way it does. The band went quiet. I kept writing, but nobody outside of New Jersey and New York really knew we existed.

Then, a fan made an MS Paint animation called First Person Zombies on YouTube using Infection, over 15 years ago. That animation eventually inspired Reign Fall, a Roblox game currently in early access. The game got popular. The song got popular again with a whole new audience. I had no idea any of this was happening until royalty notifications started showing up in DistroKid and I decided to investigate. I found out my song had gone viral without me, about 15 years after the fact, and the Reign Fall folks reached out to me to officially license Infection and Hindsight for their game. WOW. Things were really getting insane without me doing a whole lot to make it happen.

So I did what any reasonable person would do. I learned Python, coded a bunch of audio reactive lyric videos and visualizers from scratch, started posting consistently, hit 1,000 subscribers, and today crossed into monetization. It’s something I never, ever thought I would be able to do.

I want to be real with you all: it has been a very hard few years for me. This is absolutely the brightest spot in a long run of bad times and I do not say that lightly. I do not know if this will ever turn into something I can live off of… that is a pipe dream so few people can actually count on. But if it starts making any meaningful income this channel only gets better from here: more music, more videos, more crazy ideas.

To everyone who has been watching, listening, commenting, chatting in live streams: thank you for spending your time on this planet with me. You made this happen and it genuinely means everything.

None of this went as planned because…. well, there was no plan. There was just a refusal to stop making music even when it made absolutely no practical sense to keep going, even though everything was telling me not to for the last 20 years.

Today, everything shows me that it made sense after all.

Thank you, and stay evil.
